Working from the interior design team’s look and feel reference, we raised a practical concern early — the hexagonal island workstations had plants at the centre that would be unreachable for maintenance. The solution was simple but effective: the work tables were made movable, giving our team clear access without disrupting the workspace design.

What We Learnt
Good planting design isn’t just about how it looks on day one — it’s about whether it can be properly cared for on day 365. Raising access concerns early, before construction is finalised, is always easier than solving them after. The movable table solution at Mercedes-Benz is now part of how we think about every island-style workspace we encounter.
